Our History

An organizational meeting was held at 7:00 p.m..  on March, 1, 1955, with the following persons present:  John A. Daugherty, Floyd Davis, Sank Tunnell, Duane Sames, and John G. Wilborn.

On March 1, 1955, at 8:20 p.m. a policy making meeting was held with the following directors present: Vernon R. Mills, Floyd Davis, F.L. Green, Sank Tunnell, and John A Daugherty. 

The following officers of the Board of Directors were elected
     Sank Tunnell.....................President
     Floyd Davis.................Vice President
     John A. Daugherty......Secretary/Treasurer

Action taken by the Board:
     Loan amount maximum was set at $200.00.
     Interest rate was set at 1% per month on
     unpaid loan balance.
     Deemed Charter Members to be those persons
     who joined prior to May 1, 1955.

First loan was made to Leonard Witcher.

By March 31, 1955, shares accounts totaled $1,235.25; loan accounts totaled $530.00.

Members of the first Credit Committee:  R.M. Parham. W.A. Brown, and Rosetta Stalcup.  Members of the first Supervisory Committee: Charles Bruce, Jean Stone, and B.K. Graham.

In July 1955, the Board raised the loan limit to $500.00 "provided there was sufficient collateral or a co-signer."

December 31, 1955, share accounts totaled $12,713.00; loan accounts $9,940.00; total members 129; dividends paid on shares: 4%.

John A. Daugherty served the credit union as manager from March 1 to June 1, 1955.  Warren T. Johnston served as manager from June 1, 1955 to June 30, 1986.  Elizabeth Bach served as manager from July 1, 1986 to July 1, 1993.  Ronnie D. Johnston was employed as manager on July 1, 1993.
